Plan A Dam Trip

Hudson’s Hope, BC – The province’s largest hydroelectric facility is open for business – summer tourism business, that is…
The WAC Bennett dam’s Visitor Centre is open for the season. The dam is among the world’s largest earth-fill dams and visitors to the facility 20-kilometres west of Hudson’s Hope can take an underground tour that includes a bus ride down to the base of the dam and a walk through the powerhouse station.
The Peace Canyon dam lies just 23-kilometres downstream on the Peace River. It re-uses water that has already generated electricity at the Bennett Dam.
BC Hydro says the four turbine runners and generators installed in the powerhouse at the Peace Canyon dam are the largest ever installed in North America. The Visitor Centre there showcases the construction of the dam.
While admission is always free at the Peace Canyon dam, Hydro is offering two-for-one admission every weekend in June at the WAC Bennett dam as part of National Electricity Month.
