Wednesday, June 5, 2013 @ 3:48 AM
Prince George, B.C.- The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) has started an environmental assessment of the proposed Murray River coal mine near Tumbler Ridge.
The proposal from HD Mining International Ltd. calls for the construction, operation and decommissioning of an underground coal mine and supporting infrastructure, including a 5.8 kilometre rail load-out.
The proposed mine is 12.5 kilometres southwest of Tumbler Ridge, and would produce six million tonnes of metallurgical coal each year over a 31 year life span.
The public is now invited to submit comments on which aspects of the environment may be impacted by this project, and the areas that should be examined during the environmental assessment.
You have until June 30 to submit your comments to:

Is this the mine that will be bringing over Chinese nationals for the first 10 years of production at cut rate wages?
If that is the case, then it shouldn’t proceed until they have trained Canadians to do the job.
Thhat mine is already approved and being built. But may be the same company. This would be a good point to submit to the evironmental assesment board. (they look at more then the physical environment, looks at the social and comunity environment).
