Byelection Date Set

Kelowna, B.C.- The date for the Westside-Kelowna byelection has been set. Premier Christy Clark has called the byelection for July 10, 2013.
The seat became vacant when Ben Stewart resigned as MLA on June 11, to allow the Premier an opportunity to win a seat so she can sit in the Legislature. Clark lost her riding to the NDP’s David Eby in the May 14th election.
Westside-Kelowna is a Liberal stronghold.

What horsecrap. She lost her own riding. She needs to step aside and let someone else take the reins. What happens if she loses this one? Another MLA resigns so she can have another crack at it?
Real democracy……bah!
and… cue the bitter NDPrs to pretend that this has never happened in BC before. ;)
Instead of rhetoric let’s base the possible byelection outcome on Clark’s performance since the election.
She approves charging elderly people in wheelchairs a $25 a month fee for weelchair upkeep.
She approves giving chiefs of staff in ministry offices a raise from $94,500 a year to $105,000 a year.
The new deputy chief of staff in Clark’s own office gets a raise from the wage of former deputy Kim Haakstad of $144,000 to
$195,000, a 50 thousand dollar raise, and she is BRAND NEW on the job.
Clark’s chief of staff gets a raise up to $230,000 from $195,148.
First of all what have these people done to get such huge raises without any proof of performance?
Secondly, what happened to Clark’s election mantra of fiscal restraint? Promises, promises much like No HST, No Sale of BCRail.
Those close to Clark get to slurp out of the trough at your expense, and at the expense of education, health care, senior citizens and other programs that are supposed to be provided by goverment.
But make sure you collect those wheelchair fees.
Disgusting.
No NDPr here interceptor. This is her record since the election.
Yawn.

For once, I agree with weak sauce. Yawn, snore, etc. get over it. It’s happened before and will no doubt happen again. At the same time u gotta say I wish I could get vote myself a fifty grand raise!
As I stated before. Both the NDP and the Liberals ran in the last election, and promised NOTHING to the average citizen, except more taxes and increases in service charges.
On the other hand business will do quite well. In fact the President of the Chamber of Commerce wants to improve the PST and bring in a made in BC Value Added Tax. VAT. Will he get any support for this idea??? I suspect so, the Chamber and all its members are strong supporters of the Liberals.
Soooo. Are they getting ready to give us the HST via a different format. Vanderzalm says if they do, he will probably lead a charge to chase them out of office.
Westside-Kelowna could more properly be described as a Socred, Reform, Conservative stronghold, being represented by a Conservative dressed in Liberal clothing.
Didn’t last weeks news report that Cummins would announce he was running.
“yawn”
Just the cost of doing business under the Liberals I guess is it?
No money for essentials but lots for Liberal buddies. Its sort of like the city of PG. Money for the pet projects but nothing for the basics.
How long do you yawners think the money is going to last while its being peed out the back door?
Everyone grab your ankles for 4 years.
Yeahhhh WHAT’S up with the raises???? Didn’t take her long to dole the money out to her friends…
You all sound if you’re surprised. What did you expect? get used to it, there’s more to come.
does a byelection like this really cost the taxpayers that much?
The last three byelections in BC cost about $500,000 each.

Nope. It said Cummins would LEAD the party during the by election. They were looking for a candidate.
He is one of the best people I have seen to lead the Conservatives. Cuddos top Cummins! ;-)
