Prince George, B.C.- The Prince George Spruce Kings have signed a goalie. Jesse Jenks has committed to the team for the 2013-14 season.
Born in 1995, Jenks is a 6’ 2” 180 pound goaltender from Crofton, BC who played last season for the South Island Royals in the BC Major Midget League. Jenks is considered to be a technical goaltender with a calm and focused approach to the game.
“I am super excited and couldn’t be happier to come to Prince George,” said Jenks. “Prince George is a great hockey town with lots of fan support. I was really impressed by the team during the Spring Camp and have heard good things about their program and commitment to get players to the next level.”
“Jesse is a big goalie who is very technically sound, athletic and competes hard,” said Spruce Kings General Manager, Mike Hawes. “I was very impressed by his play for his major midget team every time I watched him last year and he also had a very good Spring Camp with us in April. I look forward to Jesse continuing our teams run of having very good goalies.”
“I’m looking to take on the challenge and I do play better under pressure,” added Jenks. “I’m more of a team player and I’m very excited for the opportunity to play for the Spruce Kings. To play with the players coming back and the players that have been recruited.”
Jenks is the fifth player to commit to the Spruce Kings for the 2013-14 season and answers the question of who will guard the net after Kirk Thompson. Other committed players include Caleb Thompson, Cole Todd, Danny Kiraly and Braiden Epp.
