Prince George, B.C. – A pile of rubble is all that remains of the former Shell gas station at the corner of 5th and Carney.

Heavy equipment operators were on site today tearing down what remained of the boarded-up station, which closed earlier this year. And it’s probably a good idea to get that site cleared away. Shortly before 10 Friday night emergency personnel were dispatched to that location after a passerby reported a loud hearing a loud hissing noise.  What was termed a major hissing sound was coming from the site, although no odor was detected. Fortis Gas was called to make sure it’s gas service was turned off.

They finally get tired of been robbed! I lived on Burden St., in the same block, it never stopped. I knew the lady that owned it at the time, she had been robbed about 29 times if I remember correctly!

no the tanks are probably expired so it time to close shop and now have another vacant gas station lot for 15 years. Then again that was the ugliest gas station north of Vancouver.

No place to rob at 5th and Carney Anymore

Have to agree with everyone here. The place was a dump that the criminals seemed to like to target.

Used to be my regular fill up location years ago till I changed.

according to a lady that worked there some years back when i was living in the neighbourhood, there is/was a halfway house or recovery place a block over.

I don’t know a about that, but there was a rooming house right behind the station. There was also a crack shack across from my home that was a continuing problem. Called the cops on a regular basis and very little was ever done.
