Prince George, B.C. – The busy city soccer pitches adjacent to the aquatic centre are getting some added use this weekend.

Already extremely well used by youth teams, the men’s soccer league and UNBC’s men’s and women’s teams, the fields are also the site this weekend of a keeper clinic being put on by the university in partnership with the PGYSA.. Sports Information Officer Jesse Olynyk says “they brought in a young woman named Dayle Colpitts, the leading goalkeeper down at Virginia Tech. She’s also been a member of our U-20 National Team so she competed at the U-20 Championships in Japan, and she’s on the radar for our women’s national team. So she has agreed to come in for three days and she’s leading this clinic.”

Olynyk says about 25 players had pre-registered “and the majority of them were girls, which is awesome. So our women’s coach, Andy Cameron, brought her in and she’s agreed to work with our goalkeepers for five different two-hour sessions.” The goalkeepers attending the clinic are, for the most part, aged 13 to 18. The keepers and a few other players with the Timberwolves women’s team are also on hand.

Racer, as a former coach and now grampa with two involved in soccer, I would like to know what your point is? Are you expecting 100% use of facilities spring summer and fall? Is that your point?
