Central Mountain Air Expands Air Service To Calgary
Tuesday, June 25, 2013 @ 10:13 AM
Prince George, B.C.- The flight service between Prince George and Calgary is just a few weeks old and is being expanded.
Central Mountain Air has added Sunday to it’s existing schedule between the two cities.
“This route has only been operating for a few weeks now, but the response from northern BC residents has been great” says CMA President Douglas McCrea.
President and CEO of the Prince George Airport Authority John Gibson welcomes the news of the expanded schedule “This is great news for Prince George and the region as the additional day gives business and leisure travelers more options. Flying between the two areas on a Sunday bodes well for the business community looking to start their week with meetings in either city.”
The new flight will leave Calgary on Sunday morning at 10:40 and arrive in Prince George at 11:30 a.m. The Sunday flight then leaves Prince George at 5:15 p.m. arriving in Calgary at 8 p.m.
The new Sunday service starts on July 7th.

so why not Edmonton… tons of business and meetings in Edmonton. Is there a reason we cant have a direct flight to Edmonton???? Save me a lot of time rather than going via Vancouver, I can almost drive to Edmonton than fly,
“Flying between the two areas on a Sunday bodes well for the business community looking to start their week with meetings in either city.â
I.e. the oil and gas sector who’s headquarters and corporate offices are located in Calgary, not Edmonton. Make some room, Alberta’s oil and gas sector is here and they mean business!
This is good news!
Lol Good news that they decided to stop here from Terrace on their way to Calgary? Whatever .
I don’t think you read the story, NoWay. Whatever.
Notwithstanding any and the odd fancy announcements, just settle for the fact you can’t get there from here. And you never will.
The reason we have the Terrace to Calgary flight with a stop over in Prince George is because of all the mining, and construction work taking place in Kitimat, Terrace, and Highway 37. Without the people from this area flying back and forth to Calgary there would not be sufficient passengers to support a Prince George to Calgary flight. That’s why Air Canada discontinued its Calgary flight a few years ago.
The above story doesn’t say whether or not the Sunday flight is specific to Calgary and Prince George, or if it is another schedule flight between Calgary and Terrace with a stop over at Prince George.
The six hour time lag between the arrival in Prince George and the departure at 5.15pm indicates that this flight could in fact be a Calgary to Terrace flight with a stop over in Pr George.
I suspect that at some point we will get some clarification.
Have a nice day.

If you recall, Westjet also briefly flew direct to Calgary from here but couldn’t keep the passenger loads up enough to keep it going.
Even if Prince George is a stopover from Terrace on the way through to Calgary, who cares?
I think a Dash-8 is about right in terms of current demand. The Sunday flight makes sense for those Monday morning meetings, otherwise you’d have to go through Vancouver.
Correct JB, WestJet flew Calgary to PG to Victoria.
PWA had a Calgary flight too and an Edmonton run CPA had a Fort St John , White Horse run etc etc. where are these airlines now? I did read the story JB…. the very first story about CMA stopping here on the way to Calgary.
If there are enough requests for a PG to Edmonton flight, sure CMA will take note and add it. We have to be thankful for CMA’s adding this important PG to Calgary route (since the other big airlines refuse to take note of the potential revenue from the route)
“If there are enough requests for a PG to Edmonton flight”…
Like most things, money (and bookings) talk. Everything else walks.
I just don’t get the negative attitude about this. ????
If you know there’s a decent demand for a flight but you don’t think it’s enough to fill the plane you want to use… you stop in between if you can and get more butts in it. Simple.
I know a sales rep from Calgary that started using this right away. He doesn’t give a damn where it starts, he just knows he can get home to Calgary 6 hours faster then connecting thru Vancouver.
It’s a win no matter how you look at it. And if CMA can do this to Edmonton the same way… another win. Win for them and a win for us consumers via more competition.
Well put, Jaws.
