Local Detachment Has UTV

Tuesday, June 25, 2013 @ 1:25 PM
Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George RCMP detachment has a new tool.

Meet PG 1405, a CANAM 800 Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) or better known as a “side by side” atv.  Is now part of the Prince George detachment’s fleet of   police vehicles.

Completely detailed with RCMP deals and equipment,  it has all the bells and whistles, or  lights and sirens as  the case may be.  This new UTV will be put into service at the end of this week. 16 people are being trained this week on how to  properly use the UTV,  13 are from the local detachment, three from other agencies.

(at right Sergeant Al Steinhauser  shows the new UTV to 3 1/2 year old Jake McKay)

Corporal Craig Douglass says the UTV will make it easier for officers to access areas where there is poor or no road access, can be used when needed to reach areas not accessible by regular cruisers, will allow for increased patrols for outdoor activities  such as hunting, fishing and recreational vehicle use.

The Prince George detachment is one of several  detachments in the north to be  outfitted with  a UTV.

Come on down to the parkridge heights area and bust the jerks who drive down Henrey rd like they own

When you phone the cops about that sort of thing they will ask you yer name and address and your birthdate. Thy want to know more about you than the scofflaws. I don’t phone cops about these kind of things anymore. I have resigned myself to the thought that one day these jerks will grow up and move away.

Now this type of vehicle actually makes sense. Get a couple more of these and give back the $1m armoured tank.

Don’t forget to put straight pipes on that thing Steinhauser. Excessive noise from motorized vehicles isn’t an issue in your world right?

This **rig** will enhance the armored vehicles that the Province recently bought for the RCMP. Some 18 Vehicles with a price tag of $11 Million or more.

Since when does the local police get involved in hunting, fishing, and recreation. I can to some degree see the recreation factor, however the others are the responsibility of Conservation Officers.

Somethings afoot with the new Police Station on 22nd Avenue, and all this new equipment to operate in the bush. Grow ops perhaps, or something more sinister?

Wow, tax dollers at work? new police building, new tank, new quads? wtf?!?!?!
Cop says, I am patroling, passer biers say he’s romping that thing playing not working.

Fine/tax collection equipment at it’s finest Palopu.

Noooo, it’s so they can get to the pipeline and direct traffic.

You are closer to the truth than you might think middle finger.

Hmm… still need water cannons and a big shipment of riot gear, then they may think they are ready for the protests when Harper tries to push Enbridge through?

“the UTV will make it easier for officers to access areas where there is poor or no road access”

Yes, just like these people are doing …. :-)

I see my earlier post was removed.. Not Impressed Ben. We don’t need police in the bush. The RCMP should concentrate on the drug dealers, instead of trying to get the working guy trying to have a little fun in the bush.

Whatever happened to police on motorbikes? Still see the state troopers on them in the USA. Haven’t seen one around here for many years.
