Pleasant Surprise At Pumps

Prince George, BC – What’s this? A two cent drop just in time for the long weekend.
It’s unusual, but welcome relief. However, according to the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives Gasoline Price Gouge Meter, we’re paying 18 cents per litre more than we should be, based on the price of a barrel of crude oil and the value of the Canadian dollar. The CCPA says local motorists should be paying $1.19 per litre for regular unleaded at normal profit margins.
GasBuddy.com says the cheapest city in the province to buy regular unleaded as of Friday was Kamloops, where most service stations are charging $1.21.
The most expensive place to fuel up this long weekend? Fort Nelson – at $1.56, while Smithers is just a dime behind at $1.46.

It’ll save a dollar, but they’ll get you somewhere else, and it will cost you a lot more than a dollar. Between all the gas companies, and the gov’t you’re gonna get it in the end, and won’t be able to afford to go anywhere, so you might as well rent out that old motor home, or use it as a chicken house.
Don’t forget the 7 cents carbon tax scam for fancy resorts
You know what is really bad about this… Is us being pleasantly pleased of a entire 2 cent drop. I must say it is nicer than a 2 cent increase.
But they raise the above a dollar because oil was a barrel of oil was $145. Then a barrel of oil drops back below $100 so they blame it on the possibility of war in the Middle East. Then they’re raise it again due to potential hurricane.. Well no hurricanes predicted, Middle East has calmed down, oil is now $97 a barrel so they drop it 2 cents.. They are so genuine aren’t they

Another hit is the ethanol in the fuel which reduces mileage and power. Food for fuel.
Ethanol is cheaper to produce than gasoline, so why is the price the same?
Ethanol has heavy subsidies there for a false cost. Those subsidies are to be removed. Should be interesting
Gas without ethanol costs a lot more than the regular with ethanol. So where would be the savings if I switch to the Premium which is ethanol free? My SUV runs very well on regular Chevron. Never had a frozen gas line in the winter either.
Huh, premium has always cost more. Did you see a price reduction when ethanol showed up.
Huh, my vehicle doesn’t require premium! Actually I had no idea what premium costs until recently when I purchased a new snow blower and a new lawn mower. Both have warnings about the use of gas blended with too much ethanol. Another gimmick!
Perhaps the ethanol comes from a renewable resource (like from corn in the USA) whereas regular gasoline is made from crude, a non-renewable resource. If our ethanol does not come from a green source the whole thing doesn’t make any sense. Not everything that is regulated upon us does necessarily make sense!
Life is like that!

“Ethanol fuel is no bargain. For example, when gasoline is priced at $3.40 per gallon, the 85 percent ethanol blend (E85) is priced at about $3.00 per gallon. But since the energy content of ethanol is only 66 percent that of gasoline, a tank of E85 gets only about 71 percent of the mileage of a tank of pure gasoline. E85 fuel should be priced at $2.41 per gallon for the driver to break even. According to the US Department of Agriculture, ethanol fuel remains about 25 percent more expensive than gasoline.”
