One More Way To Support Alberta Flood Relief

Saturday, June 29, 2013 @ 6:34 AM

Prince George, BC – Prince George residents, and those living across the province, have one more way to support relief efforts underway in Alberta in the wake of the devastating flooding…

The Canadian Red Cross has asked BC Liquor Distribution Branch to activate its fundraising system – meaning from now until August 10th, customers can make donations at the checkouts at BC Liquor Stores.  The money will be used to help provide flood victims with emergency relief, medical treatment, and assistance to recover from the effects of the flooding.

"Being a good neighbour means helping each other out in times of need," says LDB General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Blain Lawson.  "For the next six weeks, I would like to encourage BC Liquor Store customers and our employees to show their support for our neighbours in Alberta."

Canadian Red Cross BC & Yukon Director, Kimberley Nemrava, says, "Our work on the ground depends on the generosity of the public.  The floods caused significant devastation and Red Cross is committed to being there for the long-term."

"We encourage communities across the country to join Red Cross in helping the people of Alberta recover."
