Prince George, BC – Good news for city residents who love to stroll the pathways through Cottonwood Island Park…
The City has announced that river levels have dropped enough to allow both Cottonwood and Paddlewheel Park to re-open to pedestrians and cyclists, alike.
However, the ‘island’ portion of Cottonwood will remain closed until further notice over concerns over bank erosion.

Perhaps the City could look into getting some rip/rap along the River to reduce the erosion. This could be done over time and is certainly needed.
Now that they are not going to do the fancy (useless) and expensive dike, they and the Province, Feds, should be looking at shoring up the shore, not only at the Cottonwood Park side, but across the river where houses are being threatened.
If the erosion gets to the point where it is a threat to the Pulp Mill Road, then see how fast they move.
