Citizen of the Year Nomination Period Extended

Monday, July 1, 2013 @ 1:05 PM
Prince George, B.C. – For the first time since the Citizen of the Year program was announced, there were not enough nominations in order to make the announcement at the Canada Day Celebrations at Fort George Park.

Normally, the cut off for nominations is in early June, and the nominees are officially announced at Fort George Park on Canada Day.

Today, Teresa Saunders, ( in photo  at right) a volunteer with PG Community Foundation and Chair of Citizen of Year Committee, stepped up to the microphone to announce the deadline for applications has been extended to August 15th.

Saunders says selection of the finalists will take place between August 15rh and September 1st.  . The announcement of the finalists will be made in early September, and the banquet will be held on October 18th.

Saunders encourages everyone to take time to think about the “givers” in the community and to nominate those people for the honour of being named Citizen of the Year.

Comments

Perhaps the Haldi Rd. residents should be nominated, as they have done more for this city in trying their darndest to keep the OCP from being changed throughout the city.
That in my books, makes for a great democratic group.

“Saunders encourages everyone to take time to think about the “givers” in the community”

That is simple … the taxpayers as a collective…..
