Prince George, B.C.- A fire this afternoon on Village Avenue in Prince George,  is now being investigated by the RCMP.

Fourteen fire fighters from three halls  responded to the call of smoke  coming from  a duplex in the  1200 block of Village Avenue  around 1:00 this afternoon.

When  crews arrived on scene, the fire had spread into the  other side of the duplex.  Luckily, there was no one home on either side of the building at the time of the blaze.

Crews were  quick to contain and extinguish the fire,  and  remained on scene  for a couple of hours to  douse any  possible hot spots.   Damage was  contained to the kitchen areas on each side of the duplex and is estimated to be in the range of $120 thousand dollars.

While the cause  of the fire is undetemined,  Prince George Fire Rescue  has turned the investigation over to the Prince George RCMP for further investigation.
