Prince George, B.C. – July 1, 2013 will go down in the weather record books for Prince George.

The temperature hit a high of 33.5 degrees Celsius today,   that’s nearly one degree warmer than the old record of 32.7 set on this day back in 1942.

While the warm weather made for plenty of activity around the Rotaract Water Sprinkler Park at Fort George Park today, it also set the stage for nasty thunderstorms.

We can expect a similar scenario for tomorrow.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Ken Kwok says the hail that pounded parts of Prince George late today, was, in some cases, about marble sized. Two more serious clusters were tracking east across highway 97 around McLeod Lake, and  from Quesnel to Wells.

Sheesh. I missed the hail! That would have been the silver lining to this heat.
