Prince George, BC – For the second weekend in a row, forest fire crews from across the region boarded a plane at YXS bound for the Yukon.

Fire Information Officer, Navi Saini, says a unit crew from Prince George, two initial attack crews from the Northwest Fire Centre, and an initial attack crew from the Cariboo Fire Centre are being sent to Carmacks to assist with fire suppression efforts in the territory.

Saini says sufficient personnel and resources remain in BC, given the current and forecasted provincial fire situation.  The crews can be deployed for up to 19-days, but can be recalled at any time.

The costs associated by the deployment are covered by the Yukon, under the Mutual Aid Resources Sharing Agreement, which allows for the movement of firefighting resources throughout Canada.
