Haldi Residents Drop Conflict Challenge

Thursday, July 18, 2013 @ 4:00 AM
Prince George, B.C. – The Haldi Road group which had launched a court action asking the court to determine if Mayor Shari Green was in conflict, has dropped that argument from their court case.

The action asked the Court to determine if Mayor Green was in conflict when voting on matters related to the amendment of the Official Community Plan and a rezoning that cleared the way for the development of a recovery centre for women in the former Haldi Road School.

The core of the case was the relationship between the Mayor and one of the owners of the property, Brian Fehr. Fehr had told a National Post reporter that he and the Mayor were “old friends”.   Fehr and the Mayor have both since flatly denied any such relationship.

The Haldi Road group is pressing forward with the other arguments in their case, namely that the OCP amendment is invalid and should be quashed because it is inconsistent with policies affecting land located in Rural B areas and that the zoning bylaw also be quashed  because it is inconsistent with the Official Community Plan of Prince George.

There has been no date set for the Court to hear this matter.
