WestJet Launches Vancouver-Terrace Flight

Monday, July 22, 2013 @ 4:05 PM
Terrace, B.C.- The boom in the northwest region of B.C. has prompted WestJet to announce it will soon be offering direct flights between Vancouver and Terrace.

As of November 25th, twice daily service on board a Bombardier Q400 NextGen aircraft will begin.

"The growth of natural resource and industrial development in this important region of British Columbia is unprecedented," said Ferio Pugliese, Executive Vice-President, WestJet, and President, WestJet Encore. "And given the critical importance of transportation in creating and supporting economic development, we are pleased to offer greater opportunities for connectivity to the WestJet network with this new, twice-daily service to the Skeena Valley at such a significant time in its history."

To make the deal a little sweeter, WestJet has put in place  special introductory low prices for a one way fare. The one way fare from Vancouver to Terrace, taxes and fees included,  will be $135.58, while the one way from Terrace to Vancouver will be $130.33.
The activity in the Northwest was also the reason for Central Mountain Air’s recent addition of a Calgary to Terrace flight that makes a stop in Prince George.

Looks like the Kitimat, Terrace, Pr Rupert, Highway 37 Industrial/Commercial/ boom is well on its way.

Terrace is strategically located to be the hub, and distribution point for the Pacific North West.

A few more years before Alcan’s new plant is complete. Plus a good chance of at least one (1) Natural Gas Plant, Transmission Line North on Highway 37, plus big mines in the works like Red Chris Copper, etc; add to that the container traffic in Prince Rupert that creates a number of jobs, and you have all systems a go.

Prince George will be able to supply a lot of the labour for this area, however I think that Terrace will become the distribution point for a lot of business that is now handled in Pr George.
