Prince George Fire Rescue crews outside the London Hotel on 3rd Avenue

Prince George, BC – Fire crews remain on the scene, after a fire broke out at the London Hotel in downtown Prince George this afternoon.

Smoke damage to the hotel on Third Avenue appears to be extensive, but it does not appear anyone was injured in the afternoon fire.

The two business owners on the main floor of the building were able to get out without problem.  Four people were living in upstairs in the hotel, but none were home at the time.  Efforts are now being made to find those residents accomodations.

The Vancouver-based owner of the hotel has been contacted and informed of the fire.  The adjacent businesses – North 54 and the Evergreen Pharmacy – have not been impacted.

The London Hotel has been a thorn in the RCMP’s side, being an alleged ‘hot spot’ for illegal activity. (click here, for previous story)

There is no word on the cause of the blaze at this time and a damage estimate is not yet available.

Soon to be another vacant city owned lot.

Is that the oldest structure downtown?

What is with all the fires lately?

“hot spot” Really?
I’m sure the neighbours won’t be missing the uprooted residents.

Need to renovate those rooms for the 2015 winter games. What better way to do it?

I wonder how much the city will pay for the air space above the vacant lot after the building is torn down?

Since when is this an active “hotel” again? Who is the hotelier?

Bulldoze it, PLEASE!
