Prince George, B.C.- Human caused fires have been keeping the Prince George fire Centre busy.
Yesterday, the Prince George Fire Centre responded to two new wildfires, both of which were suspected to be human caused.
An abandoned campfire touched off a small wildfire at the west end of Summit Lake on Sunday evening. Members of the public kept the fire small, and an initial attack crew from the Wildfire Management Branch responded to put out the flames.
It was the use of fireworks in the Chubb Lake area on Sunday that started a small fire. And yesterday, crews responded to two new wildfires both of which were suspected to be human caused.
Since April 1st, the Prince George Fire Centre has responded to 125 wildfires, 71 of which were caused by human activity.
The Fire Centre says any source of heat can reignite a fire, that campfire ashes should be cold to the touch and sparks can be just as dangerous.
