RCMP And Ministry Of Forests Investigate Van Isle Bus Crash
Nootka Sound, BC – RCMP on Vancouver Island are releasing information about a charter bus crash that occurred on a Forest Service Road, near Tahsis on Vancouver Island, mid-week.
Nootka Sound RCMP say both police and the Ministry of Forests are investigating after the bus went off the road near a bridge that was under construction. The bus landed on its side and numerous passengers were injured in the mishap which occurred just after 8pm on Wednesday evening.
The bus had been carrying 21 people from Alberta, along with the driver. Constable Tim Hawkes says police and EMS from both Tahsis and Gold River responded to the 911 call. Several passengers were transported to hospital in Campbell River.
Constable Hawkes says, at the time, the bridge was under construction because it’s being replaced. The incident is still under investigation.
