Another Honour For Charles Jago

Wednesday, July 31, 2013 @ 11:04 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Dr. Charles Jago of Prince George, is one of 13 British Columbians who will be appointed to the Order of British Columbia.

The Order is the highest honour in this Province and those who are appointed have been so because of their contributions to improving the lives of fellow British Columbians.

"The Order of British Columbia recognizes remarkable accomplishments by extraordinary British Columbians," said Premier Christy Clark. "This year’s recipients have each made a difference in their communities and to the province. On behalf of all British Columbians, I want to thank them for their dedication – and all they do to make B.C. better."

Dr. Jago, who was the President of UNBC during it’s formative years, played a key role in securing the Northern medical Program for the University. He was also the co-author of the study which paved the way for the development of the Northern Cancer Centre. Dr. Jago serves as Chair of the Northern Health Authority Board of Directors, and is Chair of the Fraser Basin Council.

Dr. Jago is a Member of the Order of Canada, and is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee Medals.

A great man with good character.

And from Prince George!!!

Nah, another Liberal insider who will end up getting the Order of BC just like Gordon Scambell… LOL… sigh…

Interesting that he received the Order of Canada before the BC version.

He was born in Ontario and gained his post secondary institution administration experience there.

Most of his life has been spent in Ontario. He has been here just under 20 years, I believe.

But heck, for PG that makes him an old-timer. LOL

Jeese they gave out those diamond jubilee medals like they were syringes at the needle exchange – kind of defeated the honor of it all.

People#1, given Dr. Jago’s impressive credentials and his dedication and commitment to whatever task he sets his mind to, your comment suggests that his Curriculum Vitea pales in comparison to yours.

Please feel free to use this venue to tell all of us exactly what you have done or contributed to make Prince George and the Province of British Columbia a better place!

Well, we are all waiting…..!

The main legacy of Jago is UNBC. I recall his last VP academic in UNBC disclosed to faculty members that the enrollment numbers in UNBC books (at least during Jago) were cooked and the woman in charge was removed. We know what happened to his successor in UNBC (I mean Cozzetto) when he came out trashing Jago’s legacy in UNBC. So who should we beleibe and whom do u beliebe?

You don’t need to be living under the rock to realize that he has left a big mess in UNBC and UNBC is financially in trouble. Just read the last Public Senate report in UNBC made un-public.

I beliebe in me !
