Prince George, B.C.- Two people are in custody following an attempted theft from a Chief Lake Road property.

RCMP say early this morning, they got a call from a Chief Lake Road resident saying   people with flashlights, were stealing items from his property and loading the items into a pick up truck.

He stayed on the line and kept  police updated on the  situation until officers arrived on scene just as the suspect vehicle was moving out.

The 43 year old male driver of the truck jumped from the truck while it was moving and tried to get away on foot, but was apprehended moments later.

The 37 year old female passenger stayed in the truck and was taken into custody after the truck rolled into two police cruisers before coming to a stop.
No one was hurt.

The lock on the gate to the property had been cut and several items belonging to the owner were located in the suspects’ vehicle.

Further checks with the owner of the Ford F-350 pick-up, found it had been stolen earlier in the night from a car dealership on Queensway in Prince George.

The following charges will be recommended to Provincial Crown Counsel by police:

·         Break & Enter with Intent
·         Theft Over $5000
·         Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
·         Trespass at Night
·         Possession of Break-in Instruments

In addition, four Breach of Condition charges against the male will be recommended.

Both persons are Prince George residents and well known to police.

caught red-handed with the stuff, and in the act.
Plea bargain, minimal sentence and no time served.

Great work guys, giver bullets. And, its usually the warnings and cautions that’ll screw the case up.
Recall a case in Kitimat years ago where the policeman repeated on the witness stand “You have the right to detain and instruct counsel without delay”
Call it a “learning experience”. But, Hilawious at the time.
Some counsel should be detained, but nuff said.

Now that’s what the police should be doing.busting the low lifes trying to steal from the poor working man. Lucky for them the guy didn’t have a shot gun at their backs

Job well done by our local Mounties. Keeping the tradition alive or the phrase at least, “we always catch our man”. Good show.

I wouldn’t have called the cops!

They will get a slap on the wrist and community hours when our “justice” system is done with them.

“I wouldn’t have called the cops”
Quite a statement to make.
Ghostbusters? Hells Angels? Good luck!

I wanna report my comment being stolen (deleted)

Perhaps when comments are deleted whomever deleted them could leave a note it place stating why they were deleted.

FWIW the comment was “They stole WORK boots!?! WTF!

I can’t see a reason to delete that.

Seems like they missed some motor vehicle offenses here. ICBC could bury this guy worse than any court in PG will, or has. Sad that the police didn’t have a dog with them, then we could read about ‘minor injuries’: the only punishment this jerk would get.
..four Breach of Condition charges against the male will be recommended… So his punishment for prior criminal convictions are less than what you’d get for having 2 beer after work… . 2 years on the hill bending over for bubba would be fitting.
