WestJet Adds Another PG-Vancouver Flight

Prince George, B.C.- WestJet has added one more flight between Prince George and Vancouver.
Starting November 25 there will be two 737s and two Q400s each business day to Vancouver .
“This additional service means an additional 40 seats per day between Prince George and Vancouver. It also gives travelers more choice in terms of flight times” says Prince George Airport President John Gibson.
The additional daily service leaves YVR at 5:25pm, arriving in Prince George at 6:50pm; out of Prince George, it leaves at 7:20pm arriving into YVR at 8:36pm.
“One of the reasons we launched WestJet Encore, was to provide enhanced service to smaller Canadian communities,” said Robert Palmer, WestJet’s manager of public relations.
Also included in WestJet’s winter schedule is the weekly non-stop flight to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The “snow to sand” service runs November 2nd, 2013 to April 26, 2014.

Westjet is the best. They set the bar for airlines.
Wasn’t that long ago that West Jet discontinued one flight to Vancouver, so reinstating it with a Q400 and replacing another 737 with a Q400 is not exactly an increase in service.
At best you could say they are close to the service they had a few years ago.
In any event it seems that the days are numbered for jet service in this area.
Business is business. I am thankful for WestJet and the services they provide. One more flight is appreciated.
No question Westjet is the airline of choice in my world.
Beats the others every which way from Sunday.
I fly them all (AC, Westjet, and CMA) and find them all to be great. Air Canada in particular has come a long way in the past few years to match Westjet’s service level.
I think with the new hanger and the flights direct to Calgary CMA has a good shot at challenging the other two in becoming the hub carrier for Northern BC. If CMA could become successful with PG airport as their hub that would help lots for further flight options… more so than a change of planes by WestJet imo.
Both Westjet and Scare Canada have their eyes on Prince George with the industrial building boom happening in the north PG will be at the forefront due to the centralization and infrastructure that is unique to PG in BC

Westjet seems to have adopted the nickel and dime approach lately which is really starting to turn me off them. I don’t mind paying for service but I find being asked to pay a fee to prebook a seat and the new addition of “classes” to be rather Air Canadaish of them.
On my last two flights to Toronto I received an email three hours before my flight from Westjet telling me that the planes wouldn’t have the seat back TV’s but I was more then welcome to rent a tablet from them. I bring some tunes and a book so I really don’t care about the seatback TV but I know a lot of people who chose Westjet just for that.
WestJet stopped being better than Air Canada quite a while back. The only plus is 737 service out of PG & it’s looking more & more like those days are numbered. At the end of the day price & connection times are the deciding factor for me, not cute jokes.
I actually tend to agree with weaksauce.
Unless it’s a short flight (in which case I don’t really care one way or the other), I tend to fly Air Canada now. I find the aircraft are cleaner, the flight crews more professional and the aircraft more comfortable.
Good points and I agree. Westjet has come down a bit while Air Canada has come up. I also agree that the 737 days for Westjet to and from PG are numbered. Then they will be more of less all the same.
