Prince George, B.C.- A Prince George RCMP member suffered several dog bites when attacked by a vicious dog early this morning. The dog was destroyed.
Just after the clock struck midnight , Prince George RCMP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on the 2000 block of Oak Street in Prince George.
The occupants of the residence ran, and while in pursuit, an officer was attacked by a vicious dog. The dog would not give up, and had to be destroyed.
Five persons were arrested inside the residence. A quantity of cocaine and drug trafficking paraphernalia was located and seized. A modified .22 calibre rifle as well as two pistol style pellet guns were also located and seized. In addition, a significant amount of counterfeit American Currency and equipment used in the manufacturing of the currency was located and seized.
Three people, a 41 year old female Prince George resident, a 35 year old male Prince George resident and a 23 year old male who had recently moved to Prince George from Quesnel, are facing charges.
Cpl. Craig Douglass, spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP says vicious dogs are among the dangers officers face daily, "Whenever possible, steps are taken to minimize risks to our officers and the dogs, but unfortunately it is not always possible."
The bitten officer was treated by the BC Ambulance Service and released.

Sorry to see the officer was injured. Although the report doesn’t say: If the dog belonged to the arrested people, then they should be charged with attempted murder.
Counterfeit us currency, maybe they might get jail time. You do time for crime in USA.
Nah, just probation up here in good ‘ol Nuck land. Nice they all got caught. So long as they don’t have at least 5 breaches of bail or probation, they’ll probably be back on the street by now………..
Destroyed the dog how? Did they take it to the vet and have it put down or did they shoot it in the residential neighbourhood?
What type of dog? Not to much info here
Black box, that’s ridiculous.
Obviously they shot the dog right in the street, in a residential neighbourhood. This is Prince George.
If the dog was out of control and couldn’t be subdued then I hope they did shoot it in the neighbourhood. Why should an officer have their safety and life put at risk to save some thugs dog who has probably been trained to attack? Thoughts are with the officer for a speedy recovery.
If someone broke into my home, whether it be police or thugs, I would certainly hope my dog would try to protect me.
Obviously not a pitbull or pitbull cross cause that would of been the lead in to the story. Any other breed it’s reported as just a dog.
2bits they can shoot your dog even if it attacks a officer who is entering the wrong house while your home sleeping, happened a few years back in town here, somehow ruled as justified, guy lost his dog while it was protecting its own house in it’s house from an intruder (the officer)
An officer arresting you for being a douche bag isn’t an intruder.
good guy or bad the dog doesn’t know like the officer it was just doing its job a little to good unfortunately.
Who are these people?
BC Racer there are not bad dogs just bad owners, trainers.
In the end it matters not why a dog is vicious, only that it is.
doneright, yes there are bad dogs! oh and there are bad people too. I’d like to see what all the armchair cops here would do if they were attacked by a dog, good or bad dog no matter. If I got a weapon the dogs a gonner that simple. Well I guess we could tazer it, but then the armchair spca cops are gonna bitch!
Poor cop couldn’t win no matter what he did! I had a friend attacked by a dog, it was horrifying to say the least and that was just for me witnessing it, he’s still scared of dogs to this day! 14 years now since.
Had to shoot a dog that attacked me years ago. Very sad, I loved dogs then and I still do. The owner was a goof but that’s where it starts, bad owners give their personality to dogs. It can be trained out but sometimes it’s hard to do. Although this may have been someone else’s dog, just don’t know.
Wish the member well, he was trying to protect all of us from the scum that feeds on us.
