Ok great, but where does everyone park?

in pay street parking that is abundant around the hospital. (sarc)

Well, if they keep building on this teaching hospital, there won’t be any room for a patient hospital.

You got that right Loki. The name of the game is to spend money on projects, and stick it to the tax payer.

Parking is already an issue at the hospital, this new project will only exacerbate the problem. I think they should have built a stylish new parking garage for Joe and Jane public, first.
Tearing down a perfectly servicable building at the rear of the hospital (former nurse’s quarters) only adds a few spaces for employees. I guess we are expected to take the bus or catch a cab if we need to visit the hospital in Prince George.
metalman.

Over $7,200 per square meter … $670 per square foot. That’ll be a LEED gold building.

So what is the payback? 15 years if energy cost goes up??

Probably less than 30% of that money will be spent directly in Prince George.

BTW, that area of 1,365 /m2 is about the area of a floor in the original hospital. It already contains some Medical teaching areas.

Are we sure that it will not be another conversion of a floor in the old building?

The area of the facility is a very small area for a stand alone building on a hospital campus with limited land.

I can find no images of a building. Nor does this seem to be a design-build proposal which would be normal for a stand alone building.

It is strange that there have been no media releases which identify location on the hospital site.

Some 40 years ago there were projections that the hospital could grow across Edmonton St to the property that the Northern Health Building occupies. In fact, Edmonton Street could be closed one day if it were required

Found it. to be built near the main entrance. Maybe they will build it on stilts, attach it to the building on the second floor and leave the parking as covered parking and save all that snow clearing in the winter … ;-)
