Stage Being Set for Jail and Bail Event

Tuesday, August 27, 2013 @ 3:50 AM
Prince George, B.C. – A Cops for Cancer Tour de North fundraiser is looking for folks who would be willing to be part of a Jail and Bail fundraising event.

The scenario has members of the community nominating prominent, high profile citizens to be ‘arrested’ and placed in a make shift jail in a very public setting.

The “arrested” folks have to raise “bail” before being released back into society.

In an effort to avoid disrupting the busy lives of some of the would-be ‘jail-birds’, some participants are allowed to fundraise before the arrest day, potentially reducing or eliminating their time in ‘jail’.

The Jail and Bail event is set to take place Thursday on September 5th from 10 am to 5 pm, in the parking lot of Gold’s Gym at 8th Avenue and Brunswick Street.

The event is expected to be a fun way to bring awareness to the Tour de North ride, while raising much needed money for children’s cancer research.

Nomination forms are available at a number of locations in Prince George, including the Prince George RCMP detachment, and North District RCMP office. They can also be picked up at Canadian Tire, Northland Dodge, Cyclelogic, participating credit unions and Mr. Mikes Steak House.

This year the Tour de North will start in Dawson Creek on September 13th,  travel through Prince George on September 17 and will wrap up in Williams Lake on the 19th.

I nominate the mayor. Can we pay to keep her in there?
