Two Who Died in Fiery Crash From Alberta

Wednesday, September 4, 2013 @ 1:05 PM
Prince George, B.C. – The B.C. Coroners Service has released the names of the two people who died in a fiery crash on Highway 97 on August 28th.
The two men who died were from Alberta. The driver was 52 year old Jiping Fang of Sherwood Park while his passenger was 61 year old Leonard Kropp from Fort Saskatchewan.
The rental car was southbound on Highway 97 about 25 kms north of Quesnel when the vehicle crossed the centre line and collided with a northbound chip truck. The driver of the chip truck was not physically injured.

The collision sparked a fire, which required a helicopter with water buckets to douse the flames   that had lept to the tree line on either side of the highway.

There has been some speculation the car  swerved to avoid hitting a duck.

The BC Coroners Service, WorkSafeBC and the RCMP continue to  investigate this death.
