100 Mile House, B.C. – Two questions, put to the voters in the Cariboo Regional District, have easily passed. The questions were aimed at bringing costs for operating facilities in and around 100 Mile House more in line for the users.
The preliminary results of the vote last Saturday are for South Cariboo recreation , Yes 571, no 318. For the vote on the South Cariboo Search and Rescue, yes 943, no 121.
The community of 100 Mile House has said that while the town has been paying 100% of the costs to operate the soccer fields, only 15% of the locals are using the facilities. Only 35 % of the users of Martin Exter Hall come from within the community and the move is designed to bring those costs more in line with the users.
The same set of circumstances apply with the South Cariboo Search And Rescue which now will be known as the West Chilcotin Search and Rescue.
The community of 100 Mile had been covering the entire costs of the operation of the system.
