Garbage Service for Some PG Residents Under Discussion

Monday, September 9, 2013 @ 3:51 AM
Prince George, B.C. – On September 1st, the Regional District   of Fraser Fort George implemented a minimum $6 per load   delivered to the Foothills Landfill.

When that change came into effect, the Regional District created special pass cards for folks in Salmon Valley who have no other garbage service or transfer station.

But what of the hundreds of homes in Prince George which don’t received regular garbage pick up?

That is one of the items on the agenda for Prince George City Council when it meets this evening.

Staff report there are  517 developed residential properties within the City  limits that currently do not receive residential solid waste collection.

The report says staff intends to meet with the residents in the affected areas, and if the majority of residents say they would like to join the City Service, staff would go   back to Council for the final word.

Already seen someone has dumped at the head of a trail in the Edgewood pit area. So it begins….

The idiocy of some people never ceases to astound me. The effort some people will go through to avoid paying $6 is also mind boggling.

And you didn’t see this coming,JohnnyBelt!

No, I’ve always known how stupid people are.

IMO the city should provide neighbourhood dumpsters like they do during spring clean up. I think a lot of people would rather drop off and not use city collection, especially people who don’t have a way to keep their garbage cans away from bears.

I wonder if they’re going to charge me for my 2 or 3 trailer loads of leaves I will be raking up from my small City lot this year?

It seems like double dipping when I will have to pay them to dump at the landfill, and then they will turn around and sell it as compost?

Maybe I’ll just dump it in the bush somewhere?

time: “I wonder if they’re going to charge me for my 2 or 3 trailer loads of leaves I will be raking up from my small City lot this year? “

It has always been free to dump compostable materials at the transfer station sites, unless you have new information?
