Two Fires Under Investigation in Quesnel

Tuesday, September 10, 2013 @ 11:17 AM
Quesnel, B.C.- RCMP in Quesnel are investigating two deliberately set fires.

Just before 1 this morning, a fire was reported in a storage container at the rear of a commercial property in the 200 block of Anderson Driver. The fire had been spotted by passersby who call 911 then worked to put out the flames with a nearby garden hose.

The passersby, a 22 year old male and his 18 year old brother, are being credited with preventing the flames from spreading and causing severe damage to the building.

The second fire happened during the same time frame and in nearby Lewis Drive.   A garbage can had been set on fire outside a residence in the 100 block of Lewis Drive. That fire was spotted by a resident  who was awakened by some noise, and then saw a pick up truck driving northbound on Lewis Drive.

Quesnel RCMP are asking the public to be vigilant in reporting any suspicious activity in this area.

Anyone with any information about these fires or any suspicious activity, vehicles or persons observed in the area prior to the fires is asked to call the Quesnel RCMP at 250-992-9211.
