Quesnel- A cyclist was taken to hospital in Quesnel early today after he was struck by a car.
The 31 year old man was riding against the traffic when he was hit. He was travelling eastbound on a westbound portion of Anderson Drive just after 7.00am. today, when he was hit.
He was taken to hospital where he is being treated for non life threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Police remind cyclists that you are required to wear a helmet when you are travelling on the travel portion of a roadway.

And follow the rules of the road! Charge him for the medical bills.
And charge him for damages to the vehicle instead of ICBC covering it.
Wonder whatever happened to adults setting good examples for children.
Yeah, it kinda works the other way around.
After seeing how cyclist ride with traffic , i am not suprised more are getting hit. They want to be treated like vehicles but don’t seem to want to follow the rules of vehicles

Then there is the College Heights High School running team out heading south on Domano at 3:40 this afternoon. Maybe the coach should inform them that they shouldn’t be running right on the road in the same direction as traffic. (insert head pounding wall smiley here).
I saw a herd(?) of teens (about 30 or 40) sauntering along the sidewalk on Massey in bunches. If you or anyone you know is the PE coach, could you tell him/her these fine specimens of leaders of tomorrow weren’t even exerting a half hearted attempt at running. Just sayin’.
No surprised that another cyclist got tagged, by the way they ride. I do not like cyclists riding on the road ways, but I could accept it a lot more if we ever saw some enforcement on them. According to the bc government, cyclists have the same rights as veihicles on public roads, yet they are not required to carry any insurance or have brake, turn & headlights. Considering that if a cyclist is involved in a accident with a veihicle they would be the ones that would lose, so why not make it law for them to be iluminated the same as automobiles?I have very rarely seen a cyclist wait their turn in traffic, typically they coast up the shoulder to the front of traffic.if I drove my car the same way I see many cyclists ride, ii would be going to jail for reckless driving
