Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Spruce Kings made good use of home ice Friday night to get into the win column for the first time this young BC Hockey League season.

Coming off two opening weekend losses a week ago at the Bauer BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack, the Spruce Kings put in a very solid performance at the Coliseum in handing their Mainland Division rivals, the Chilliwack Chiefs, a 7-1 defeat. The teams were tied at 1 after 20 minutes, then the Spruce Kings popped in three unanswered goals in the second to take a 4-1 lead before rounding things out with three more in the third for the one-sided victory.

Jake LeBrun paced the Kings with two goals, Brent Lashuk had a three-point night with a goal and two assists, Caleb Thompson and Justin Rai had a goal and a helper each, Mitch Eden had two assists and Skylar Pacheco and Danny Kiraly both scored one goal. The Spruce Kings fired 53 pucks on the Chilliwack goal while the Chiefs managed 19 shots on Alex Murray in the Kings net.

The two clubs go at it again at 7 tonight at the Coliseum.
