Chetwynd, B.C. – Chetwynd RCMP have one male in custody after he allegedly fled from police and rammed a police car.
At 6:16 pm Saturday Chetwynd RCMP observed a grey vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 29 north of Chetwynd. Officers observed the driver throw a beer can out his window and a traffic stop was then initiated. The driver was detained for an impaired driving investigation when, they say, he fled from police on foot then jumped back into his vehicle.
A police officer attempted to stop the driver but was dragged alongside the vehicle for some distance as the suspect held on to the officer’s arm. The officer was able to break free and only sustained minor injuries. Chetwynd RCMP pursued the vehicle and during the pursuit they say the suspect rammed a police vehicle head on before he was captured and arrested.
The suspect, who is well known to police, is being held in custody by the Chetwynd RCMP on several criminal code offences.

Had one almost drive through me this morning on Domano, screaming and yelling at something when he stopped at the lights and then peeling off still yelling at the top of his lungs
I wonder what goes through some peoples heads sometimes. I mean…this dude obviously had issues with the law in the past and they know exactly who he is and where he lives…..why run? Now he’ll likely be facing attempted murder charges instead of the ‘relatively’ minor dui charge.
Quite the world we live in eh?
The big city of Chetwynd is really taking over the headlines these days. How come they didn’t shoot him?
