Man Arrested In Connection with Terrace Area Shooting

Terrace, B.C. – RCMP have made an arrest in connection with a weekend shooting in Thornhill, which left one man dead and injured a woman.
Police have identified the deceased male as 27 year old Eric Maurice Cardinal. A 29 year old female was transported to the Terrace Hospital with a serious but non life threatening gunshot wound. She received medical treatment and was later released.
Terrace RCMP were advised that the suspect left the area in a pickup truck. The truck was soon located abandoned on a rural forest service road. Terrace RCMP along with the RCMP Police Dog service and Emergency Response Team were called to the rural area and an extensive search for the male took place.
RCMP soon located and arrested 29 year old, Travis Leslie Stephens, who was found down an embankment trying to hide from Police.
RCMP say the shooting was drug related. All individuals involved are known to police.
Travis Stephens remains in police custody and has been charged with one count of Murder and one count of Attempt Murder. He is scheduled to appear in Supreme Court on Wednesday September 18th, 2013 in Prince George.
