Prince George, B.C.- The visit to Prince George by the RCMP’s Musical Ride, not only provided an outstanding display for the many who attended the two shows, it raised money for Community Policing.

All proceeds from the Musical Ride are to be donated to a local cause and in this case, it is Community Policing.

This morning,   a cheque in the amount of $12,000 was presented to the Two Rivers Crime Prevention Society. While the RCMP provide  the operating budget for Community Policing, it is the Society which provides the funding for a variety of programs and equipment used by Community Policing in Prince George.

The dollars will be used to buy a variety of program needs, such as flashlights for Citizens on Patrol, or perhaps speed watch boards.

… radar guns with officers attached also generate funds and discourage speeders … ;)

I for one would like to see more speed watch boards up especially in school and playground zones.

Too many people simply ignore the posted signs.

… you are absolutely right… and a speed watch board is only a flashing speedometer so no new information to the driver here … and do you think for a moment that this slows people down better that an officer with a radar gun and a ticket book?

I wonder what the point of speed boards is… I have a perfectly good spedometer in my car which does the same thing.
