Premier Praises Sjostrom’s Leadership
Vancouver, BC – With her one-year term as president of the Union of BC Municipalities at an end, Quesnel Mayor, Mary Sjostrom, received high praise for her efforts from Premier Christy Clark.
Speaking at the closing of the AGM’s convention yesterday, Clark thanked Sjostrom for her years of hard work.
"Mary, you have done so much for Quesnel, you’ve done so much for British Columbia. And because of your leadership – not just this year, but over the years – in leading your community, Quesnel punches way above its weight in British Columbia and in Canada," said the Premier.
Sjostrom is in her second term as mayor of Quesnel.
On Wednesday, delegates at the UBCM convention acclaimed Columbia-Shuswap Regional District Director, Rhona Martin, as president for 2013-14. Martin had been 1st vice-president alongside Sjostrom.
