Sihota Resigns As NDP Party President

Saturday, September 21, 2013 @ 12:31 PM

Prince George, BC – It’s been a week for the BC New Democrats, as the fall-out that was expected after May’s crushing defeat in the provincial election has arrived…

Party leader Adrian Dix announced on Wednesday that he would step aside as soon as a successor is named.  Today brings word that Moe Sihota will resign as party president when his term ends in November.

"Our party possesses a great deal of talent, and is a key reason in my decision to step down," says Sihota.  "It is time for the next chapter in the BC NDP’s history, which means a new generation of leadership."

The former MLA was first elected as president in 2009, and has his term renewed by party delegates in December of 2011.

Former party leader, Carole James, says, "Moe has made an enormouse contribution to the NDP and to our province over many years.  What I appreciated most was Moe’s tireless driving across the province to meet and work with constituency associations."

Stay tuned for the “haters” comments to come.

Sihota’s history and record speaks for itself. ’nuff said.

Right on schedule!

Dragonmaster, my first thought was “that guy’s still around?”. Second thought “who cares.”

Very preceptive comment Drangonmaster I’ve been on here long enough to be able to separate the background chatter from the real meaningful comments. Your’s was a meaningful comment.

I see JB trying to rise to the occasion but, more often than not, keeps coming up short. Keep trying JB…

As for bornandbred’s comment; what a contradiction in terms… “who cares”? Apparently you do enough to make a comment on this story.

Everything seems too be the way it is on this comment board, and everyone seems to be completely within their characters… please do carry on ;-) Umm.. Gus, that would be your queue to comment. LOL

Not unlike some corporations, when things get shaky the heads all head out…. That’s when in the corporate world the company stocks start to fall like a parachute gone wrong. Pull the reserve and hope someone else can stand up and turn things around.

There was enough back forty scandal for a few folks in the party to cause the election distrust to take hold. Just need to see how this plays out. Should be amusing to say the least.

Oops, I forgot. Only the lefties are allowed to be critical around here. Sorry for breaking the rules, guys!

People: “Very preceptive comment Drangonmaster I’ve been on here long enough to be able to separate the background chatter from the real meaningful comments. Your’s was a meaningful comment.”

Lol.

Yea Moe had a long and storied political career…if that story was a Bollywood version of the Sopranos:D

-license to practice law suspended for 18 months for professional misconduct

-Dhaliwal appointment to Hydro board in exchange for mortgage guarantee

-limousine license fiasco

-kicked out of cabinet so many times they but a revolving door in.

Maybe him, the forger and the diamond thief are going to join forces in some type of “enterprise”

put a revolving door….the butt was the guy going through it;)

Dix and Sihota were joined at the hip and both had to step down for the sake of the party’s future. The leadership race will be interesting….the NDP definelty needs a leader with a healthy measure of intelligence, tenacity, integrity, and skill to win an election. It will not be easy to win back all the supporters who no doubt jumped ship after the last election….

Most definitely DNHey, also add somebody with some personality to the mix. Despite being a “lefty” I still have no idea who this man is, was, or what he stood for.

On the bright side, it shouldn’t be too hard for the NDP to find someone who can take on a divorcee university/college drop-out like Christy. :-D

So you only “champion” for single moms if they are on welfare and play the everyone’s fault but mine card at every opportunity.

If they work their butt off and make innumerable sacrifices to become premier of the province they are to be mocked and belittled.

In case you what to look up the meaning…the spelling is “hypocritical”

Any reason he did not come out of the woodwork to endorse Dixie during the election campaign? Phone Svend. He would make a swell leader. IMO.

want…fat fingers today

Only 5 more to go, house cleaning is what’s needed. And back to a party of the working class, jobs and a vision for economic development that presents jobs for BC people first and screw the crap about development, development until we start training our own. Bull shit to mine mine, mine and not have a plan or a long term vision.

lonesome: “Yea Moe had a long and storied political career…if that story was a Bollywood version of the Sopranos:D

Careful, or you’ll be branded a ‘hater’ for that kind of talk! :D

People right on character as he said. That so called dropout sure creamed the NDP. The do called educated blew it big time. Being so called educated doesn’t make one smart.

Dragonmaster, you always seem to have a negative comment whenever there is something mentioned about anyone or anything but the NDP. Would that make you a “hater”?

Lonesome Sparrow…why do you want fat fingers today ?

DNHey, you put Integrity and NDP in the same comment, I’m still laughing.

Hey Moe, Did you ever figure out how to put seat belts on motorcycles, without BCCOM getting on your case over it??????
Didn’t think so!!!!!!

Sorry I touched a nerve on the Christy Clark being a divorcee in my comment lonesome.

I had no idea you were one as well… was it just one divorce or was it multiple Elizabeth Taylor times?

No matter, your name befits you… lonesome sparrow… can I help you get past your anger and resentment issues?

So the best response when the glaring hypocrisy of your posts are exposed is yet another ad hominem attack?

tsk tsk in the words of Cindy Lauper “your true colors are shining through”

An apology to Ms.Clark would have been in order for a true “leftie”

When you find yourself in a hole and want to get out the first thing to do is quit digging, better put down the shovel people#1.

That is of course unless you are looking for the smallest sliver of credibility.

In that case keep digging as it is buried DEEP.

David Eby, or Nathen Cullen would be good leadership hopefuls for the BC ndp. One could hope.

WELL I GUESS THE LYIN LIBS DID NOTHING WRONG DURING THE DARK YEARS THAT THEY ARE IN POWER TAKE OFF THE DARK GLASSES CHILDREN BECAUSE ALL I HAVE SEEN FROM THE LIBS THE LAST 5 YEARS IS BASICALLY NOTHING CONCRETE AND DID WE NOT HAVE A MASS EXODUS LEADING UP TO THE ELECTION SHOWING THEIR TRUE LIBERAL COLORS AND ALL I SEE FROM THE NAYSAYERS IS IN TRUE LIBERAL FORM LIPSERVICE

Your caps lock is stuck!!

Our education system has failed so many people.

You American Ice? Mass exodus or not they still won. I have to wonder though if the Libs won or the NDP lost. Either way the Libs get another 4years.
