It’s the final weekend of outdoor action for participants in the PGYSA  250Sports

Prince George, BC – It’s been a beautiful summer to sit by the sidelines for parents of the more than 2500 boys and girls registered in the Prince George Youth Soccer Association’s outdoor program…

And it’s fitting that as fall officially arrives tomorrow, the outdoor season draws to a close today.

PGYSA is the largest youth sport organization in the city and approximately 700 kids are expected to make the transition from outdoor to indoor soccer during the fall and winter. 

Indoor registration is underway, with programs starting up in the third week of October.

One player not making the move indoors is Graeme Lewis (shown in photo at left, courtesy of PGYSA)…

The Association has announced that, Graeme, a member of the U14 Kodiaks is transferring to Kelowna this fall to begin the next stage of his soccer journey.

The teen will be joining the Thompson Okanagan Football Club to play in the EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL).  He will be billeting with the team’s goalie, Carl Vandekraats, a former PGYSA teammate, whose family moved to Kelowna last fall.

According to a news release from PGYSA, Graeme began playing soccer when he was just five years old and became hooked on the sport when he began taking part in indoor programs when he was eight.

With several local players joining BCSPL teams in recent years, Graeme says he would love to see a team formed in Prince George, so kids in the region have access to the same opportunities as players in the south, without having to leave home.

However, the teen says he’s excited about this opportunity and the season ahead.
