Prince George, BC – Honks of support were the order of the day as volunteers for the local Run for the Cure took to the intersection of Highways 97 and 16 to drum up interest in the upcoming event.
With just 12 days until the run at the Civic Centre, Teams Fundraising Coordinator, Melissa Veregin (l), and Individual Fundraising Coordinator, Abby Zawada (r), decide a ‘wave campaign’ might generate some extra attention for the worthy cause.
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure is the largest national fundraiser in support of breast cancer research. Last year, 488 participants took part in Prince George, raising $109-thousand dollars.
Veregin says it’s not too late to get involved in the October 6th walk/run, and she’s encouraging people to go to the run’s website for more information.

I would love to see events like these e.g. cancer fundraisers, more as a support run than a fundraising run. I’m good with paying to enter but not really sure about all the funds raised for cancer.
I would like to see events where the money raised is kept in PG and used for cancer fighters/survivors’ support.
In any case, if you can spare the entry fee, get and run, just because you can.
