Prince George, B.C. – A special event for  members of the RCMP Auxiliary Constables in the region as they have been  presented with  a special commemorative coin minted to mark the 50th anniversary of the Auxiliary Constable Program in Canada.

Six Auxiliary Constables from Prince George joined fourteen others who travelled to Prince George from various points throughout Northern BC to receive the special gift.

PG Detachment Auxiliary Constables able to attend the ceremony were:
  • A/Cst. Matt Hammond
  • A/Cst. Giulio Massini
  • A/Cst. Joe Naaykens
  • A/Cst. Hans Mannhardt
  • A/Cst. Dan Wilson
  • A/Cst. Tyler Fillion
The commemorative coin  (front and back of coin shown at right) was designed by Auxiliary Constable Trevor Absolon, who actively serves the West Shore RCMP Detachment located on the southern part of Vancouver Island.

Since 1963, Auxiliary Officers have been assisting police officers and serving their communities to enhance community policing and crime prevention initiatives.
There are more than 1000 Auxiliary Officers serving in BC.

Comments

These appear to be medals rather than true coins: that is, they are not commemorative coins produced by the Royal Canadian Mint and legal tender.
