Prince George, BC – Prince George RCMP are releasing more information about an incident 250News had preliminary details about on Wednesday evening…
In addition to suffering minor bite wounds from Police Service Dog, Azar, a 29-year-old city man is now facing numerous charges in connection with the incident, which involved a stolen pick-up truck and culminated on North Nechako Road on Wednesday afternoon.
RCMP Media Liaison Officer, Corporal Craig Douglass, says an officer spotted the stolen truck driving along River Road and a spike belt was deployed near the Cameron Street Bridge, but the vehicle failed to stop for police and continued driving another two-kilometres before ramming a police vehicle on North Nechako Road.
Corporal Douglass says officers were able to box the vehicle in, causing it to stop. He says, despite warnings from police, the male driver attempted to flee, but was swiftly apprehended by Azar.
The media officer says the suspect was in possession of a significant amount of heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine. He was transported to hospital, where he was treated for minor bite wounds to one arm.
Paul Daniel Shaw is facing seven charges, including possession of stolen property over $5000, assaulting a peace officer, failing to stop for police, and driving while prohibited. He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on Wednesday.
RCMP say the Ford F-350 was stolen from a residence on Graves Road at the end of September and contained rock core samples in the back. The core samples have not been recovered and police are asking anyone with information to contace the Detachment at 250-561-3300.

Paul Daniel Shaw:
-Sept 2011- rammed 3 police cars with a stolen truck
-December 2012-charged for ramming 2 police cars and 5 other vehicles
-And now this incident.
This punk is a menace to society and ICBC rates.
Why didn’t they shoot him?
I mean people have been shot or tasered for less like holding up a stapler or an axe in a threatening way. This guy had a bigger weapon then that.
Send him to China for a Caning. They say no one goes back for seconds.
Nice police work. Now, will the justice system put him away for more than a few weeks?
Ha,, ha, at least Azar got a taste of him! Nice to see that he’s being kept in remand. I sure hope they don’t let him post bail later.
Nobody posts bail here, this is Canada.
You’d think that someone with a load of drugs would drive a vehicle unlikely to attract attention, not a stolen vehicle. It is fortunate that most criminals are not rocket scientists
Just a matter of time before this guy plows into an innocent family at an intersection ! Weatherly will find some reason to give him yet another chance. Or maybe it wll go to Supreme and Tindale will throw it all out !
Another loser bites the dust. But for how long is the big question?
How much did it cost to apprehend this guy? Will we have to do it again soon??
