Matters’ Mother and Brother to Take Stand at Inquest
Prince George, B.C.- Day two of the Coroner’s Inquest into the death of Greg Matters starts today with Constable Nathan Poyzer continuing his testimony. Once Constable Poyzer and Constable Jason Dickinson have completed their testimony, Greg’s brother Trevor is scheduled to take the stand.
The inquest has already heard testimony that Trevor and Greg had been involved in an altercation prior to the events with police which involved a long stand off and ended when Greg was shot by a member of the RCMP.
It is likely to be an emotional day of testimony as Lorraine Matters, Greg’s mother, is also scheduled to speak. On day one of the inquest, she was wearing the Memorial Cross, the medal pinned over her heart. It is a medal presented to family of those who have served in the Armed Forces, and who have lost their lives during active duty, or as a result of their service.
All together 29 witnesses are expected to testify, with the jury to begin deliberations Thursday. In addition to determining the cause of death ( homicide, suicide, accidental or natural), the jury may make recommendations to prevent a tragedy like this from happening again.
Greg Matters was 40 years old when he died, he had been suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which surfaced following his tour of duty in Bosnia.

Greg Matters elderly mother, thrown to the ground, keeled in the back, shipped off to the local detachment and strip searched. Yeah, the the RCMP could have conducted themselves differently.
There is enough blame to be shared by a number of parties, including our pathetic mental health services, which has been chronically underfunded for years!
I see a lot of these “rcmp tazers or shoots somebody” stories in the media. The thing i don’t think ever gets printed or talked about much is that you simply do not threaten or especially confront an officer with even a little bit of violence. They will take you out, and i don’t blame them. The crap they take from junkies and drunks is rediculous. Any of you have a job where you “guess” who is having a temper tantrum or someone that wants to kill you? Oh, maybe this person has a mental issue, lets see if they really want to use an ax, or they are just kidding. This life is simple, law abiding citizens respect cops, period
So checkitout you are okay with the gang being judge and jury.
The guy was on the phone with the negotiators for over 24 hours. He had multiple chances to turn himself in. Then he came at a police officer with a hatchet. He wrote letters in 2011 about how he wants to kill cops and get killed by them. Not much to this.
How could he have wrote that Thunderhead, he was too busy baking gingerbread cookies for homeless children and volunteering to look after abandoned puppies. Just ask his family.
Mental illness knows no boundaries.
Each and every one of you, no matter how law abiding and obedient you are, may suffer from it yourself or one of your family members.
