Fraser Hike Planned at Huble Homestead

Sunday, October 13, 2013 @ 5:43 AM
Prince George, B.C. – This is a great time of year for colourful scenery, pumpkin pie and sitting down with family and friends to a turkey dinner. Perhaps not such a great time, though, if you happen to be a turkey.

However, that aside, the Caledonia Ramblers and the folks out at the Huble Homestead have come up with a great way to build up an appetite for that Thanksgiving dinner. They are putting together a Fraser River Family Hike starting at 11 this morning at the Huble Homestead historic site. Its an hour-long guided hike along the banks of the Fraser south of the homestead, led by the Ramblers. An interpreter from the Huble Homestead will be along to describe the importance of the Fraser River in the history of this part of the province.

The hike will run from 11 a.m. to about noon, and those interested in taking part are advised to wear good walking footwear and layered clothing, and to have some water with you. Meet up just before 11 at the General Store at the Huble Homestead on Mitchell Road off Highway 97, 40 kms north of Prince George.

By the way, the Huble Homestead is also hosting an Old Fashioned Thanksgiving Celebration, minus the turkey dinner, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, before shutting things down for the year.

Comments

It would awesome if events like these were posted the day before they were happening. I don’t mean this sarcastically or unkindly, I just find it odd that happenings in PG seem to only be reported or posted the day of.

Opinion 250 is not the only source for coming events.

Try looking in the Free Press, Prince George Citizen and the Tourism Prince George events listings.

All 3 of thee sources have posted information….before the last minute.

While it’s true that there are other sources of information about events, I think that daisybee has a point: if an article of this type is to appear here, it will be much more useful if it appears in advance of the event. Otherwise, what use is it? If advance notice is not possible, perhaps it would be better to wait until after the event and report on how it went?
