Prince George, B.C. – Council for the City of Prince George has a relatively light agenda this evening.
There will be a presentation from the Prince George Air Improvement Roundtable. PG AIR will be bringing Council up to speed on the Volatile Organic Compound testing. The report had been released to the public in mid August, and had been reported here on 250News.
The report had found elevated levels of Acrolein, a compound which is a by product of a number of activities, from diesel emissions, cigarette smoking, oil refining, wood burning and pulp and paper production.
Also on the agenda for this evening, an update from the Winter Games Society.
The Games have achieved 84.4% of their overall funding goal but there are major strides yet to be made in achieving segments within that overall target. Private sector funding sits at approximately $3.9 million which is about 42% of the goal in that area. Ticket and merchandise sales are at $375,000 which is about one third of the way to achieving the goal in that segment.
The big call right now, is for volunteers, with 4,500 needed, and up until yesterday’s Volunteer sign up drive at the Pine Centre Mall, about 1,500 have signed up.
Council will also be asked to approve the amendment to the snow clearing policy, which increases the accumulated snow levels to 12 centimetres before roads ( other than those in the downtown core, arterial, or 4 lanes) will be cleared.

But we should all switch to small hybrids to decrease gas consumption.
