How many have to perish before the gov’t lowers the speed limit on the Cariboo highways. Since they upped it to 100 kmh more people have died on hwy 97. and they have to enforce the speed limit too! I’ve lost a lot of friends over the last few years, and don’t want to lose anymore!!!
He may have just fell asleep. Maybe had a bad sleep and a warm cab and on the down side of an earlier coffee. I find the worst part of the day is just before the sun sets with the red shift that makes me get sleepy. If one is not on the ball around the Cottenwood, one could get into deadly trouble quick. I would be surprised if it had anything to do with speed.
heart attack
Herbette2000, was that a question, or a fact?
RIP,
The speed limit isn’t the problem…some areas are now 4 laned, and the speed in those areas is fine. The area around the Cottonwood River bridge is notorious for fog and bad weather conditions, and the pavement is in really bad condition. It’s rutted and pot holed up so bad that if you hit it the wrong way it can throw you off.
We don’t know the condition of the driver, so it could have been a medical issue. So before going off about speed, let’s hear the facts of the cause of the accident first!
And apparently he was 70 years old, so it very well could have been a medical issue
Very sorry to the family of this victim. But cha know, if this gent died of a medical reason or otherwise and if he was 70 years old….that to me says alot..why on earth do people have to still be working after 60-65 years old. It’s obviously because people can not afford to retire and are forced to work beyond their ages and health expectations. Instead of the beautiful pensions that the leaders (and I say that loosly) pay them selves, give it back to the people they are making work and maybe incidents like this can be avoided. As for speed, well in the last week or so, I don’t think speed is a factor because you can’t see 2 ft in front of you because of the FOG…..
It is nice to see that the lack of facts doesn’t stop posts. :-). We have to remember that a person died, regardless of the reasons. We should be thinking of those that are left behind instead of engaging in useless and thoughtless speculation of what caused the accident.
