Air Quality Advisory Lifted

Saturday, October 26, 2013 @ 11:25 AM
Prince George, B.C. – Some good news for residents of Prince George from the Ministry of Environment.

The ministry, in collaboration with the Northern Health Authority, has ended the Air Quality Advisory first issued on Thursday. Meteorologist Dennis Fudge says a high pressure ridge sitting over the region resulted in very high levels of pollution last night, causing 24-hour rolling averages for fine particulates to exceed the provincial objective levels. Even though the rolling averages are still above the objectives, hourly particulate levels are now below the acceptable level and are forecast to remain below the objective for at least the next few days.

Even though the advisory has been lifted you are advised that the City of Prince George Clean Air Bylaw prohibits all open burning, including backyard burning and land clearing burning. During advisories recreational fires and street sweeping are prohibited as are the use of wood-burning appliances other than sole wood-burning heating units.

Comments

Yup, everybody is prohibited from doing anything that might contribute to our high levels of pollution. But, nobody is doing anything about the cause of it.
