Canfor Pulp 3rd Quarter Results Released

Wednesday, October 30, 2013 @ 8:59 AM
Prince George, B.C. – A major maintenance shut down at Northwood Pulp mill and severe thunderstorms in Prince George, have been cited as a couple of reasons why Canfor Pulp’s production was down, and overall operating rates were reduced in the 3rd quarter.

In releasing it’s 3rd quarter results, Canfor Pulp says the outage at the Northwood Pulp mill to make upgrades to the recovery boiler, impacted production by 32,000 tonnes.

Canfor Pulp says it’s operational performance was also impacted by severe thunderstorms in the Prince George region, which resulted in power interruptions and the shutdown of all operations, impacting production by 10,000 tonnes.

Still, the company is reporting net income in the 3rd quarter of  $9.1 million. That compares to a net income of $7.6 million in the second quarter of this year, and a net loss of $5 million for the 3rd quarter in 2012.

For the nine months ended September 30, 2013, the Company’s net income was $27.6 million, more than three times the net income of $8.0 million recorded in the same period last year.

What a load. A veritable pantload. Can’t make pulp? Well that’s just reduced stockpiles. Bean counters.

All 3 mills continue to run badly. What excuses will they use for the next quarters dismal results?
