Red Nose Has Nearly One Third of Needed Volunteers

Prince George, B.C.- Operation Red Nose Prince George is nearly one third of the way to reaching it’s goal of having 350 volunteers for the holiday party season.
Operation Red Nose will be offering its first night of service on November 29th. Those who are thinking about volunteering have to keep in mind it takes time to clear a criminal records check, so holding off, or making a last minute decision to help out won’t work.
“We’re asking everyone to apply as soon as possible to allow the processing of their applications and ensure they can work the nights they want” says Andrea Johnson, Operation Red Nose spokesperson.
Operation Red Nose is a free, designated driver service that’s organized by the Rotary Club of Prince George Nechako in partnership with the RCMP and ICBC. Volunteers drive party-goers home safely along with their vehicle too. The service is available to anyone who does not feel fit to drive.
This year, Operation Red Nose will be in service in Prince George Nov. 29, 30, Dec. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21 and Dec. 31.
Volunteers can be designated drivers, navigators, escort vehicle drivers, or work at Operation Red Nose headquarters. On average, about 15 teams of three will be on call each night of service, working from 9 p.m. – 3 a.m.
Volunteers must be 19 years old and have a valid driver’s license and must fill out a Criminal Record Check form which is all available online at www.ornpg.ca.
