Power Pole Replacements In Region

Prince George, B.C- Don’t be surprised if BC Hydro contacts you to let you know of a planned power outage. BC Hydro is replacing some of the wooden power poles in the region, and for safety reasons, may have to disconnect electricity.
More than 20% of the wooden poles in B.C. have been in service for more than 4 decades.
Over time, wooden poles get weak because of weather, insects and wildlife. In Prince George it is not uncommon to see a Pileated Woodpecker rat-a-tat-tatting on one with hopes of finding a snack.
Pole replacement may require BC Hydro or its contractors to disconnect power. Crews take special care to avoid any unnecessary impacts to customers. However, if outages need to be scheduled for safety reasons, BC Hydro or its contractors will let customers know in person, or by mail or phone.

They wil let us know?
Like they let us know they were going to change our power meters? They didn’t let me know and I was working on my computer , power surged and went off… computer hasn’t been the same since.
I have little faith they will be calling people or knocking on doors…
Gee maybe they can shock it back into working properly?
Plug it into your dryer outlet….that should fix it!
Don’t like yer hydro supplier? Just check the Yellow Pages for competitors with BC Hydro. Free enterprise ya know. Put up a wind turbine or solar panels in yer backyard. Your neighbours won’t mind. Rabbit ears in lieu of cable. Post office instead of the internet, blah, blah, blah. In doing you can save a ton of dough for really important stuff.
Ever hear of a surge protector? Maybe you just want the poles to fall? Sheesh.
They had better hurry putting in those pole holes for soon the ground will frozen cockstiff solid …….
My point was just that I don’t think one can rely on Hydro to do what they said as they have misinformed us before…
telling us they will do something and do just the opposite…
and I am well aware there are no competators for Hydro, unfortunately.
so do they lie? well they are part of our BC Government you decide….
