Lakes District Hospital Construction Enters New Phase

Burns Lake, B.C. – The  construction of the Lakes District Hospital and Health Centre has entered a new stage, and the construction crews put the structural steel into place.
Crews will be working on the structural steel for about two months.
 
The new facility will cost about $55 million to build, and will create about 200 jobs .
 
When complete , it will provide the region with:
·        16 beds
o   13 Acute care beds
    • 1 isolation room
    • 1 palliative care room
    • 1 labour/delivery/recovery site;
  • Emergency services;
  • Diagnostic imaging;
  • A laboratory;
  • Provision for public health, mental health and addictions, and home and community care service, as well as local physician and emergency services;
  • Pharmacy;
  • Rehabilitation services;
  • Administrative offices;
  • Food services;
  • Logistical services; and
  • A procedure space will be included that will be large enough to provide future flexibility for the development of operating room space.
The project is scheduled to be completed in late 2015.

PCL should be done “bid shopping” the sub trade tenders by now.

“will create about 200 jobs”

This means what with respect to the construction of the building?

1. how many total direct person-years of jobs and how many of those are local Burns Lake jobs?

2. the same breakdown for indirect person-years, please.

3. increase in commercial activity (spending) in the community by sector.
